Electro-Hydraulic Controls

Power for roll adjustments is provided by a hydraulic power unit installed in the machine base. Hydraulic cylinders at each end of the adjustable rolls are activated by a pressure pushbutton located in the control panel. Manually positioned valves control the Release-Hold-Close actions of the feed and take-off rolls. Hydraulic pressure gauges indicate the pressure settings of the rolls.

Sight-O-Matic Controls

Sight-O-Matic mills are provided with pressure gauges as a reference for the mill operator in resetting the roll pressures. This system uses small oil-filled cartridges between the handwheel spindles of the feed and take-off rolls and the roller bearing housing. Pressures applied to the housings affect the cartridges and are indicated on the gauges.

Manual Controls

Most three-roll mills and some specialized mills are equipped with manual controls for feed and apron roll pressure, permitting operators to adjust and re-adjust rolls at will before or during runs. Any Lehmann mill may be ordered with manual controls, and company engineers will be happy to assess the feasibility of these economical controls depending on your particular application.
